Perishables keep their COOL

Time is of the essence with foodstuffs such as seafood and meat and dairy products. So, it is important that these products are kept in temperature controlled conditions – to keep not only their freshness intact, but also their shelf life before reaching their final destinations. Here are four reasons why your perishables will be happy in their COOL Nordic Cargo Hub home at Helsinki Airport.

1. Perishables have their own 3,000-square-meters temperature-controlled (2-8 degree Celsius) zone.

2. Finnair’s CCC (COOL Control Center) keeps an eye on the temperatures of the Perishables area, alerting warehouse staff about any actions needed.

3. The new COOL terminal is located closer to the wide-body aircraft stands, which minimizes the tarmac transport time and temperature deviations.

4.  Perishables are taken to the aircraft stands only 30 minutes before departure (as opposed to 50 minutes for normal cargo), thus reducing the time they are exposed to outside weather conditions.
