October 10 was a milestone day for Finnair Cargo when the perishables area of the COOL Nordic Cargo Hub opened its doors to fresh fish shipments from Norway. So how did the first day go? A total of 67 tons of salmon and live king crabs passed through COOL and continued their journey onward to Seoul, Singapore and Tokyo. There were a few system-related hiccups that were resolved quickly, but overall, operations ran smoothly. This first phase kicked off the important final preparatory stage before the rest of the cargo operations transition to the new terminal in January. “With less than 90 days to go, Finnair Cargo staff are readying themselves with streamlined processes and ways of working for the grand opening of the most modern air cargo terminal concept in Europe,” says Milla Nyholm, Manager Marketing & Sustainability at Finnair Cargo.
